WORLD GOSPEL KINGDOM TRACTS
Unlocking the Mystery of Human Life
John 4:4 And He had to pass through Samaria. 4:5 So He came to a city of Samaria called Sychar, near the piece of land that Jacob gave to Joseph his son; 4:6 And Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied from the journey, sat thus by the well; it was about the sixth hour. 4:7 There came a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus said to her, Give Me something to drink. 4:8 For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. 4:9 The Samaritan woman then said to Him, How is it that You, being a Jew, ask for a drink from me, who am a Samaritan woman? (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.) 4:10 Jesus answered and said to her, If you knew the gift of God and who it is who says to you, Give Me a drink, you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water. 4:11 The woman said to Him, Sir, You have no bucket, and the well is deep; where then do You get this living water? 4:12 Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank of it himself, as well as his sons and his cattle? 4:13 Jesus answered and said to her, Everyone who drinks of this water shall thirst again, 4:14 But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall by no means thirst forever; but the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into eternal life. 4:15 The woman said to Him, Sir, give me this water so that I will not thirst nor come here to draw. 4:16 He said to her, Go, call your husband and come here. 4:17 The woman answered and said, I do not have a husband. Jesus said to her, You have well said, I do not have a husband, 4:18 For you have had five husbands, and the one you now have is not your husband; this you have said truly. 4:25 The woman said to Him, I know that Messiah is coming (He who is called Christ); when He comes, He will declare all things to us. 4:26 Jesus said to her, I, who speak to you, am He.
It was about 12 o’clock at high noon and the sun was brightly shining in the heat of the day when a thirsty, immoral woman with an empty bucket came to draw water from Jacob’s well. This woman came to draw water by herself. Did she not have any companions? Did she not have neighbors? Were there no other women that would come with her to draw water? Why? She was a very immoral woman. She was lonely and despised by people. Christ also was lonely and despised by people. Her loneliness was caused by her sin; His loneliness was caused by man’s jealousy. When the lonely sinner meets the lonely Savior, she was saved!
“Jesus said to her, Give Me something to drink” (John 4:7). The Lord Himself was waiting for her at the well to ask her for a drink. He spoke to her not in a lofty or fearful way, but He was very approachable and full of compassion.
“The Samaritan woman said to Him, How is it that You, being a Jew, ask for a drink from me, who am a Samaritan woman?...Jesus answered and said to her, If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, Give Me a drink, you would have asked Him, and He would have given you Living water” (John 4:9-10).
What is the gift of God? The gift of God is a free gift. God never sells anything. God’s things are always given to man as gifts. If you have worries within, if your environment is oppressing you, and if you want satisfaction, you can have it right away. You do not have to do anything. He will come to you and provide for you. As the Living water, He will freely quench all your thirst. Are you thirsty?
What is the way to receive the Living water? Who can receive this Living water? Only those who ask. As soon as you ask, “Please give me this Living water”, you will surely receive it! Are you thirsty?
The Lord says, “You would have asked Him, and He would have given you Living water” (John 4:10). If you would ask, He will give you Living water. This is not our doing, but God’s doing; it does not depend on our work, but on the redemptive work of the Lord; it is not what we are, but what the Lord is before God.
You can drink the Lord as the Living water of life by praying this simple prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, I am thirsty, I come to You, my heart thirsts for You. I come to drink deep of You to enjoy You thoroughly. I deeply long to drink of You, my thirst to satisfy. I confess that I am a thirsty sinner. Please forgive me of all my sins and cleanse me by Your own precious blood of all my sins that I may drink of You as the Fountain of Living water! I choose to receive You as my Fountain of Life! I now drop my empty bucket and receive You into my heart that I may drink of You freely as the Fountain of Living water that I may never thirst again. Thank You for coming into my heart that within me a Fountain of Living water may spring up giving me life eternal! Amen!
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23).
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that everyone who believes into Him would not perish, but would have eternal life (John 3:16).
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the authority to become children of God, to those who believe into His Name,
Then Jesus said to her, “…Everyone who drinks of this water, shall thirst again,” (John 4:13). The enjoyment of material things, worldly amusement and entertainment cannot quench the deep thirst within you. No matter how much you drink of this worldly “water,” you will thirst again. The more you drink of this “water,” the more your thirst increases. All that the world can give to you is temporary. If you drink it, you will still be thirsty.
Are you thirsty? Will you ask the Lord to give you this Living water?
Then Jesus said, “But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall by no means thirst forever; but the water that I will give him will become in him a Fountain of water springing up into eternal life” (John 4:14). You will never thirst again after you drink the water that the Lord gives you because that water will become a Fountain of water springing up unto eternal life. Are you thirsty? Come to the Fountain of Life! This Fountain can never run dry! Won’t you drink of this boundless supply? For Christ is the Fountain of Life!
Never try to quench your thirst with worldly water. There is only one “water” that satisfies people for eternity—Jesus Christ! Christ satisfies today, tomorrow, and for all eternity! He is ever new and ever fresh! He always satisfies!
Her many husbands, signifies the many “waters” of this world, which could never quench her thirst. This shows that everyone who drinks of these waters will thirst again and again with no real satisfaction. Are you thirsty?
Only Christ, as our real Husband, is the Living water that can quench our deepest thirst! What are your husbands?
“Jesus said to her, I, who speak to you, am He” (John 4:26). When this woman received Christ as the Living water, she dropped her bucket and left the well behind! As a result, she brought the whole city of Samaria to Christ!
No American “happy hour” can quench anyone’s thirst. The so-called “happy hours” in America can only deepen your thirst with no real lasting satisfaction. However, what you find in Christ cannot be found in amusements, relationships, marriages, children, relatives, friendships, or occupations. Only Christ satisfies!!
Once you drink of this Living water, you will be satisfied and drop your bucket of worldly preoccupations, entertainments and amusements. You will testify that only Christ is your real satisfaction.
Are you thirsty?
Are you willing to drop your bucket to receive this wonderful Christ as the Living water of life? Will you come to the Lord as the Fountain of Living water to drink of Him freely?

THE SALVATION OF THE
THE NEED OF THE IMMORAL:
Let us walk becomingly as in the day; not in reveling and drunkenness, not in fornication and licentiousness, not in strife and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts.
