WORLD GOSPEL KINGDOM TRACTS

Unlocking the Mystery of Human Life

John 9:1 And as He passed by, He saw a man blind from birth. 9:2 And His disciples asked Him, saying, Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind? 9:3 Jesus answered, Neither has this man sinned nor his parents, but he was born so, that the works of God might be manifested in him. 9:4 We must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; night is coming when no one can work. 9:5 While I Am in the world, I am the light of the world. 9:6 When He had said this, He spat on the ground and made clay of the spittle and anointed his eyes with the clay, 9:7 And He said to him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam (which is interpreted, Sent). He went therefore and washed and came away seeing. 9:8 The neighbors then and those who previously saw him as a beggar said, Is not this the one who used to sit and beg? 9:9 Some said, This is he. Others said, No, but he is like him. He said, I am the one. 9:10 They said then to him, How then were your eyes opened? 9:11 He answered, The Man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes, and said to me, Go to the pool of Siloam and wash. I went therefore and washed, and I received my sight. 9:12 And they said to him, Where is He? He said, I do not know. 9:13 They brought him who was once blind to the Pharisees. 9:14 Now it was the Sabbath, on which day Jesus made the clay and opened his eyes. 9:15 Again therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he received his sight. And he said to them, He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and I see. 9:35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out [of the synagogue], and He found him and said, Do you believe into the Son of God? 9:36 He answered and said, And who is He, Lord, that I may believe into Him? 9:37 Jesus said to him, You have both seen Him, and He is the One speaking with you. 9:38 And he said, Lord, I believe; and he worshipped Him.

Please read again John 9:1-3. “And as He passed by, He saw a man blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, saying, Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he should be born blind? Jesus answered, Neither has this man sinned nor his parents, but that the works of God might be manifested in him.” The question raised by the disciples was according to their religious knowledge. They thought that the blindness must have been due to the man’s sin or the sin of his parents. This question, like those in John 4:20-25 and John 8:3-5, is a matter of yes or no, which belongs to the tree of knowledge resulting in death (Genesis 2:17), but the Lord’s answer in John 9:3 points them to God, who is the Tree of Life resulting in life (Genesis 2:9).

We are sinners, we lost our sight and could not see anything. Our blindness was due to our sinful nature. In John Chapter Nine the man was born blind, signifying that blindness is in the nature of a person when he is born. We sinners were blind by nature because we were born that way. Have you ever realized that every sinner was born blind? Therefore, if we confess that we are sinful, we must also admit that we are blind. We were conceived in sin. Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin did my mother conceive me (Psalm 51:5). Because we were all born in sin, we were born blind by the god of this age (2 Corinthians 4:4).

The word “anointed” proves this, because the Lord’s Spirit is the anointing Spirit (Luke 4:18; 2 Corinthians 1:21-22; 1 John 2:27). The spittle, then, signifies the Word, the outflow of the very element or essence of the Lord Himself. The clay was mingled with the spittle. This signifies that the Lord mingles His essence with us by and even with His Word. We are clay by nature, and the very essence of the Lord in the Word is the spittle. As sinners, we are dead. When you hear and receive the gospel, it will actually be the spittle of the Lord that will come into you as a person of clay. In other words, the clay received something that proceeded out of the mouth of the Lord and was mingled with it.

The Lord told him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (John 9:7). The man went, washed,

and came seeing. That the blind man went

and washed means he obeyed the life-giving

Word of the Lord and he received sight.

If he had not gone to wash off the clay after being anointed with it, it would have blinded him even more. Thus, our obedience to the anointing brings us sight. Are you born blind? Do you need healing? Through your obedience to the anointing, you can be healed and receive your sight!

You can receive your sight and be healed by faith of all your infirmities by praying this simple prayer:

O Lord, Lord Jesus, I confess that I am born in sin and blinded by sin. I need Your healing touch to touch me and heal me. I need Your efficacious blood to wash me and cleanse me of all my sins. You were wounded for my transgressions, You were crushed for my iniquities (sins); and with Your stripes I am healed. Like sheep I have gone astray, and Jehovah God hath laid upon You all my iniquity. O Lord, I believe into You as the Son of God and the Light of Life. Save me, regenerate me, heal me and give me sight! I ask this in Your precious Name. Thank You for saving Me! Thank You for healing me! Amen!

Blindness, as sin in John Chapter 8, is a matter of death. A dead person surely is blind. “...the god of this age has blinded the thoughts of the unbelieving.”

So they need “the illumination of the gospel of the glory of Christ” to shine forth into them (2 Corinthians 4:4), “to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light and from the authority of Satan to God” (Acts 26:18).

When the Lord Jesus saw this blind man, He said, “While I Am in the world, I Am the light of the world” (John 9:5). The Lord is the light of life (John 8:12). Blindness comes from the shortage of the light of life. Every dead person is blind. Undoubtedly, the dead cannot see anything. Therefore, blindness indicates the lack of life. If you have life, then you have sight, for light will open your eyes. The Lord pointed out that the blind man needed the light of life. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men (John 1:4).

“When He had said this, He spat on the ground and made clay of the spittle and anointed his eyes with the clay” (John 9:6). The clay signifies humanity. What is spittle? Spittle here, as something “that proceeds out of the mouth” (Matthew 4:4) of the Lord, signifies His “words which...are spirit and life” (John 6:63). The Word that proceeds out of the mouth of Christ is spirit. Thus, to mingle spittle with the clay signifies the mingling of humanity with the Lord’s living Word.

God formed man from the dust of the ground. Jehovah God formed man from the dust of the ground(Genesis 2:7a). Thus, the spittle was mingled with the dust of the ground to form clay for anointing.

Are you born in sin? Are you blinded by sin? Are you willing to receive the Lord’s anointing that your eyes may see?

The mingling of divinity with humanity is the most prevailing ointment on the whole earth. No other ointment can surpass it. The Lord anointed the man’s blind eyes with the clay that was mingled with spittle. This signifies the anointing of the Spirit of life. The anointing of the Spirit of life always follows the mingling of the Lord in His Word with the clay. Immediately after you receive the Lord through His Word, there is the anointing of the Spirit of life. The Lord’s anointing the blind eyes with the clay made of His spittle signifies that by the anointing of the mingling of the Lord’s Word, which is His Spirit, with our humanity, our eyes, which were blinded by Satan, may have sight!

Are you blinded by sin through birth? Do you want to receive your sight? Won’t you allow the Lord to anoint your eyes that you may really see?

Jesus heard that they had cast him out [of the synagogue], and He found him and said, Do you believe into the Son of God? He answered and said, And who is He, Lord, that I may believe into Him? Jesus said to him You have both seen Him, and He is the One speaking with you. And he said, Lord, I believe; and he worshipped Him (John 9:35-38).

Thus, the blind man not only received his sight, but he himself was received by the Lord Jesus as the shining light of life into him.

Christ is the Light of Life! Do you believe that the Man Jesus is the Son of the living God? Do you want to receive your sight and be healed of all your illnesses?
